Lyon ratings & opinions
How our students rated their experience in Lyon
What our students said about Lyon
I thought Lyon was great! A pleasant, very interesting city with different, lively districts, many great impressions, a large park, small squares, cultural offers. The culinary offer in particular is great, and at affordable prices. The museums are also worth seeing, there are changing, exciting exhibitions. I especially liked the walks along the Rhone and the Saône, where you can picnic, party in the houseboats, just sit around and enjoy the atmosphere. Everything is peaceful and harmless. I walked alone through the streets at 10.30 p.m. and never had the feeling of being in danger.
Germany
Lyon is a 'young' city with a high proportion of students. The people overall are very friendly and relaxed, even if I disregarded the traffic rules (no honking). A good mix of representative districts with stately houses and many small galleries, shops, cafes, bistros ... A little more cleanliness with regard to dog poo would make the city even more lovable.
Germany
Lyon is a beautiful, lively and varied city, very well served by public transport, with a wide range of cultural activities and surroundings worth seeing. I did not take part in the nightlife, so I cannot give it a rating.
Germany
This is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Lyon has a vibrant atmosphere and one of the main cities in France. You will get to experience the best aspects of French culture in this city
Ireland
I primarily enjoyed the park, it is really beautiful and definitely something you have to see, the old parts of the city and the big paintings on many buildings are also really beautiful.
Germany
There are many things to see or do but being a big city you have to walk a lot or use public transport. Restoration is a bit more expensive than in other smaller towns in France.
Spain
Hard to give accurate picture since the city was quite empty of locals - a great many people had gone on holiday and many venues/shops/museums were closed.
France
Overall, Lyon is pretty nice city to study. Local people are much more gentle than I expected and liveable in France. City view is so beautiful.
Japan
My mobile phone was stolen. Therefore, one should think carefully about which neighbourhoods of the city one spends time in.
Germany
A very dynamic city with a lot of young people. We were served very friendly everywhere (restaurant, supermarket, shops...).
Switzerland
a very French city with not too many tourists, elegant, self-confident and in parts like Algiers.
Germany
Better than Paris because it is more compact. Lots of young people
Germany
I like Lyon, have been there several times and will go back again
Germany
A very beautiful city with very friendly, easy-going people
Germany
A very beautiful city, both to live in and to visit

Most recent student reviews of language schools in Lyon
Teaching is to a high level and there is good variation throughout the class day. All teachers are exceptionally talented and linguistic. Lyon is a vibrant city with so much going for it. I would highly encourage anyone looking to learn French to come to this school. Standard is incredibly high and there is a lot of passion and commitment from all staff to push their students to a higher level of language learning.
Definitely worth while experience.

Overall, I was very enthusiastic about the quality of the school. Everything was very well organised, you were well informed about the procedures in advance. On the first day, there was a nice welcome with a friendly assessment of language skills. All of the teachers I experienced were friendly, personable and absolutely professional. My teacher Constance made the lessons very lively, with good, creative ideas. She was able to turn even dry grammar lessons into motivating units with a lot of humour. I also found the afternoon activities good and interesting. I especially liked the French dinner at Chantale's. Absolutely recommended!
Overall I was very satisfied and will probably come again

The cultural activities and Wednesdays of support for doubts, I don't remember the name, it was like group counseling where we also talked.

Reasonable price, quality of teaching, comfortable classrooms, kindness of teachers and other staff. Through Google Classroom you can access the summary of everything given in class every day.
I've only been there for a week, but due to the quality of the teaching, I think it's worth doing long-term courses.

Are there courses suitable for me?“Of course there are suitable 50+ courses .”Sawsan Zein, LanguageCourse.Net - Feb 10, 2023I am looking for a school for my son in Lyon, France.“In Lyon we work with several schools. The minimum age of acceptance for their adult courses varies between 17 and 18, depending on the school, so if your son is already 17 by the time you want him to start the course, and already has some knowledge of French, then he can start the course any Monday of the year. If he is younger than 17, then the only option we can offer is a private course in a teacher's home (Study & Live in your Teacher's Home).”Rubén De Haro, LanguageCourse.Net - Nov 18, 2022FAQ about schools in Lyon
